Judge Angela J. Moss is a native of Spartanburg County, South Carolina.  Upon graduation from Landrum High School, she attended Converse College, graduating in 1990, with Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Psychology. After working as a newspaper sports reporter during college and a year post graduation, she attended Samford University Cumberland School of Law, earning her J.D. in 1994.  During law school she was active in the South Carolina Student Bar Association, Trial Advocacy Board, Samford Senate and trial competitions.

Upon graduation, Judge Moss returned to Spartanburg County where she began her legal career as an Associate with Albert V. Smith, P.A.  Late 1996, she joined the Seventh Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office where she was eventually assigned to the child abuse caseload. Judge Moss returned to private practice in 2000, as an Associate with Phillip K. Sinclair, LLC, focusing primarily on Family Law while also working part-time for the Spartanburg County Public Defender’s Office in Transfer Court, municipal and magistrate courts and representing juvenile defendants.  While continuing her work as a public defender, in 2006, Judge Moss established her private practice focusing on Family Court mediation and serving as Guardian ad Litem.

Prior to her election to the Bench in 2021, Judge Moss volunteered as a mediator at the Upstate Mediation Center. She was a founding member of the Spartanburg County Juvenile Drug Court and was selected to represent South Carolina at the 2017 Southern Region Juvenile Reform Summit. Additionally, Judge Moss previously served on the boards of the Children’s Advocacy Center and Piedmont Legal Services.

She and her husband have been married since 1997, and are the proud parents of two children.  The Moss family is active in their church and community and enjoy college football, hiking and their beloved pets.
