Judge Jennifer B. McCoy

Judge Jennifer B. McCoy grew up in Augusta, Georgia. She is the daughter of Patricia Loflin Blanchard and the late Elmer Ralph Blanchard.

Judge McCoy received her bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia. After serving as a public school teacher in Charleston, she attended the Charleston School of Law, during which time she interned for the late Honorable Solomon Blatt, Jr., United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina.  Following law school, she clerked for the Honorable R. Markley Dennis, Jr., Circuit Court Judge. She first practiced as an associate attorney at Carlock, Copeland & Stair, LLP in Charleston. She then served as an assistant solicitor for the Ninth Circuit Solicitor's Office. From 2015 until 2018, she served as a part-time magistrate judge in Charleston County while also working as a solo practitioner.

Judge McCoy is the former President of the Charleston Lawyers Club and previously served in the South Carolina Bar House of Delegates. She received the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rating by her peers. She is married to Peter M. McCoy, Jr. and they have three children. They attend Grace Episcopal Church.

The South Carolina General Assembly elected Judge McCoy on February 7, 2018, to fill the unexpired term of the late Honorable Tanya Gee, Circuit Court Judge At-Large Seat 9.
