RE:  Docketing of Cases for General Sessions Terms of Court

ORDER

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect court operations, we must be mindful of the potential impact on court dockets and make every effort to keep cases on track and prevent a backlog of pending matters. I would also take this opportunity to remind the Bench and Bar that hearings can be held using WebEx where possible and appropriate.

Pursuant to Article V, Section 4 of the South Carolina Constitution,

IT IS ORDERED that all Clerks of Court statewide shall designate a clerk to set the docket for each term of the Court of General Sessions. The designated clerk should work with the Chief Judge for Administrative purposes in doing so, and should strive to set a full docket.

This Order shall take effect for all General Sessions terms of court beginning on September 21, 2020, and shall remain in effect unless amended or rescinded by subsequent Order of the Chief Justice.
