Betty Fulton Matthews is a native of Greeleyville, SC. She is the mother of four children: Kristina, Karen, Courtney, and Jarrett.  Betty is also the proud grandmother of two: Kiersten and Jarell.  Judge Matthews is a 1983 graduate of CE Murray High School and studied at USC-Columbia. 

She is a devoted member of Promiseland Missionary Baptist Church where she serves as President of the Gospel Choir.  Other organizations of which she is affiliated include Professional Women Organization of Williamsburg County, South Carolina Association of Probate Judges, and South Carolina Association of Countywide Elected Executives.

She has been employed with Williamsburg County Government for the past 26 ½ years.  She served as Associate Probate Judge from 1998-2012.  On November 6, 2012 Betty F. Matthews was elected as Probate Judge of Williamsburg County.
