Judge Gregory Anderson

Greg W. Anderson is one of four sons to Joe F. Anderson and Carmen W. Anderson. Judge Anderson’s father was a lawyer as well as all three of his brothers. His oldest brother, Joe, is a federal district judge presiding in Columbia, S.C. His next oldest brother, Ben, served as general counsel to Clemson University. Judge Anderson’s youngest brother, Jeff, serves as the county attorney for Lexington County.

Judge Anderson began his legal career as a general practitioner in Edgefield, S.C. in 1980. Throughout his years of practice, he served as the attorney for the Towns of Edgefield, Johnston and Trenton. He represented many clients from all walks of life, including corporate clients as well as low-income clients. He also served as general counsel for a publicly traded company for ten years and was superintendent of education for the Edgefield County Public Schools for four years. Judge Anderson was appointed by Governor Henry D. McMaster to fill the unexpired term of Probate Judge Robert E. Peeler in August of 2017 and was elected to this position for a four-year term in November of 2018.
