In this case, Defendant appeals a conviction for armed robbery. This case involves the question of whether a person who presents a weapon to a store employee while leaving the premises with store property is guilty of armed robbery.

The Court granted certiorari to consider a Court of Appeals decision which reversed a circuit court order dismissing this medical malpractice suit for lack of subject matter jurisdiction.

This is a cross appeal. Alex Kiriakides appeals from an order of the master-in-equity finding he was not entitled to damages on his claim for inverse condemnation against the School District of Greenville County. The School District appeals the master’s award of attorney’s fees to Kiriakides pursuant to section 28-2-510(C) of the South Carolina Code based on the School District’s alleged abandonment of a condemnation action.

In this case, the Court granted certiorari to review Brannon v. Palmetto Bank, 371 S.C. 357, 638 S.E.2d 105 (Ct. App. 2006), in which the Court of Appeals reversed the trial court’s denial of Palmetto Bank’s directed verdict motions for the breach of contract and conversion claims brought by the Brannons.

In this case, the Court granted certiorari to review State v. Wharton, 366 S.C. 56, 620 S.E.2d 83 (Ct. App. 2005). The court of appeals held that the trial court erred in giving a voluntary manslaughter charge and reversed the defendant’s conviction.
