The Supreme Court of South Carolina
Re: Tropical Storm Michael
ORDER
As a result of Tropical Storm Michael, twenty-nine of the forty-six counties were closed on October 11, 2018. In addition, the Supreme Court and Calhoun Buildings were closed on that date. As of 3:30 p.m. on October 11, 2018, there were 50,837 reported power outages in South Carolina.
Accordingly, this Court finds it appropriate to declare Thursday, October 11, 2018, to be a statewide "holiday" for the purpose of computing time under Rule 263 of the South Carolina Appellate Court Rules; Rule 6 of the South Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure; Rule 35 of the South Carolina Rules of Criminal Procedure; and Rule 3 of the South Carolina Rules of Magistrates Court.
