The Supreme Court of South Carolina

Re: Amendment to the South Carolina Bar Constitution

Appellate Case No. 2014-001974

ORDER

Pursuant to Rule 410(c), SCACR, we approve an amendment to Section 8.2(b) of the South Carolina Bar Constitution submitted by the South Carolina Bar.  The amendment deletes language prohibiting the Chair of the House of Delegates from being eligible for nomination to the office of President-Elect for two years following the expiration of a term as the Chair of the House of Delegates.

Amended Section 8.2(b) provides as follows: "The term of office of the Chair of the House of Delegates shall be two organizational years beginning the day after the close of the Annual Meeting following election.  During his first term of office, he may not hold any other office in the Bar.  He is not again eligible for the office of Chair of the House."

This amendment is effective immediately.
